ABOUT ALUMINIUM WINDOWS

Aluminium is a good conductor of heat (ie a poor insulator). Aluminium windows need to incorporate a thermal break plastic insert which reduces the amount of heat transmitted to the outside of the building. This helps reduce the risk of condensation forming on the insides of aluminium windows in cold weather. Since the late 1980s, aluminium window frames are usually fitted directly into openings, instead of requiring timber sub-frames.
