UK: Bay Windows: Bay Window Suppliers

ABOUT BAY WINDOWS

Bay windows may be constructed of timber or UPVC. Where the structure of the bay window is in stone or masonry, a normal timber or UPVC window can be inserted into the masonry opening. Where the structure of the bay window is timber, this may need replacing along with the windows themselves. In this case a new structure needs to be created, normally of timber.

In the case of both timber and UPVC bay windows, modern building regulations require that the windows be double glazed. The use of low emission glass can further enhance thermal insulation.

UPVC does not give the character of timber, particularly since the sections and details do not usually conform to the original timber design. The practical advantage of UPVC is that it does not require re-painting.
