ABOUT CAPPINGS

A capping is a decorative or protective cover on an angle, end, or top. It may be of a different material from the general area, or of the same material used differently.

The term capping is also used to describe the metal strip or joint cover used to protect the joints in supported sheet metal roofing, and to describe the metal section fixed to the outside of patent glazing bars to hold the glass and protect the stem of the bar from the weather.
