ABOUT ROOFING CLAY TILES

Roofing clay tiles may be machine made or hand made. For example Eternit, which is the UK's largest supplier of plain roofing clay tiles, provides Acme machine made plain tiles, and also Hawkins machine made plain roofing tiles which are individually brindled to produce a wide colour range. Acme clay tiles are made from Etruria marl.

Eternit also supply Ashdowne handcrafted clay tiles; these clay tiles are available in six colours, with each tile being unique. Eternit's large format clay pantiles are available in a choice of eight colours and are suitable for roof pitches down to 22 degrees on new and refurbishment projects. These clay tiles are easy to lay because the tile has an extra free motion of 20 mm in the cover length and 6 mm in the cover width.
