UK: Gas Protection Systems: Gas Protection System Suppliers

ABOUT GAS PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Gas protection systems are used mainly to protect against the effects of radon gas. Radon is a poisonous, heavy, radioactive gas which is emitted from granites. Radon gas protection can be provided either by a gastight underlay below the ground slab, or by the ventilation of the under floor space into a radon sump. For maximum protection both techniques can be used together.

The gas protection sump should be located as close as possible to the centre of the floor plan of the building. One gas protection sump is sufficient for approximately 250m2.The sump should be connected to sealed pipework routed vertically through the building. This should discharge to fresh air at high level.

LEADING UK GAS PROTECTION SYSTEM SUPPLIERS

Monarflex supply a robust polyethylene gas protection membrane which seals the building from radon gas emissions. Monarflex also supply a preformed gas protection sump which collects radon and directs it safely to the outside. To be fully effective Radon gas protection barriers must bridge cavities in walls and in doing so should form a cavity tray. Where necessary, separate strips of gas protection barrier can be used to seal walls and cavities.
