ABOUT PLASTIC WINDOWS
UPVC plastic windows are made by cutting UPVC plastic extrusions to length, and with shaped ends, so that these can be made up into windows an window frames. The joints may be screwed, bolted, or welded. The advantage of screwing or bolting is that parts can be replaced; the advantage of welding is that it produces plastic windows with a stronger joint.
The advantage of plastic UPVC against timber is that it does not require any painting. However UPVC plastic windows can deteriorate through exposure to ultra violet light. This makes the plastic windows more brittle, and can lead to their surface flaking away.
UPVC plastic windows can be finished in white, or in light or dark brown wood effect. The disadvantage of wood effect is that the dye can fade. Also the dark colour leads to the plastic windows heating up in sunshine, and this can lead to distortion.
