ABOUT PRECAST CONCRETE FLOORS

Hollow core floors are made using automated equipment which applies compaction and vibration to a cement concrete mix. Hollow cores reduce the weight and the amount of material used, without significantly affecting strength. The hollow core precast concrete floors are reinforced with steel strand or wire, which is placed into the cast under tension.

Solid composite floors use hollow core precast floor components, but add a layer of structural concrete topping, which is poured on site. This combines the benefits of off-site fabrication of precast concrete floors with the benefits of on site pouring of concrete, including the ability to tie in balconies.
