Velux is a leading manufacturer of rooflights. Velux rooflights are manufactured from Nordic pine, with an external skin of grey coloured aluminium. The timber is treated with a preservative which is water based and is painted with a clear lacquer. At the head of each rooflight there is a ventilation flap; this allows the ingress of fresh air to the room without having to open the main rooflight. The ventilation flap has a wire mesh screen within it to keep out insects. Special blinds are available for fitting to Velux rooflights.
