Bamboo Fencing
ABOUT BAMBOO FENCING
Bamboo is a highly sustainable material, partly because it is the fastest growing plant on earth. Some species have been measured to grow more than four feet in 24 hours. Bamboo is extraordinarily strong, and has been the standard building product for the majority of the world for thousands of years.
A wide variety of bamboo fencing is available. The most common type consists of vertical bamboo poles of between 3/8" and 1/2" in diameter, woven together with horizontal runs of galvanized or stainless steel wire at intervals of about 4". Alternatively, rigid bamboo fence panels are available.
Bamboo weathers to a silvery gray color, similar to cedar. This color fading can be retarded by applying a waterproofing sealer similar to sealers for wooden decks and deck railings.
