Vinyl sheet and vinyl tiles are widely regarded as the most practical types of bathroom flooring. Vinyl sheet has the advantage that it is completely waterproof and will not lift; by comparison vinyl tiles may lift after time, as water penetrates the joints between the tiles. The advantage of vinyl tiles is that they can be easily laid on a do-it-yourself basis. Another practical solution for bathroom flooring is laminate. A higher quality option is stone or ceramic tiles. These provide a durable and attractive surface, but need to be professionally laid. They also require a very firm base on which to lay. Engineered wood is less waterproof than these options, but can be used. Carpet is not recommended.
