Carpets
USA: Carpets: Carpeting Manufacturers
ABOUT CARPETS
The most expensive type of carpeting is
woven. This is produced on a
loom similar that used for woven cloth, and has a cut pile. the process can
produce intricate patterns from prepared designs.
The more common and cheaper
type of carpeting is the tufted, which is produced on a tufting machine. Colored yarn may be used, or the carpet may be made using non-colored yarn
which is dyed subsequently. Tufted designs can be cut pile, loop pile, or a
combination of cut and loop pile. The third main type is Needlefelt. This is produced by the electrostatic attraction of individual
synthetic fibres. The process produces a very durable carpet, often used in
areas of heavy wear such as hotels. Carpeting can be made from Wool, Nylon,
Polypropylene, or Polyester, or combinations thereof.
