There are three main types of fireplace: wood burning, gas burning, and electric. All are available in a wide range of sizes and styles, including many traditional European and Colonial styles.

The advantage of a wood burning fireplace is that it gives the authentic look and smell of a real wood fire. Gas and electric fireplaces are unavoidably artificial, but some do very cleverly simulate the look (and even the smell) of a wood fire. They have considerable practical advantages, including not having to store or carry logs, and not having to clear away ash.

The paint, available in three colour schemes, aims to lighten and brighten dull-looking brick fireplaces, giving them a tumbled marble or sandstone look. The three colour schemes are: Frosted Sunshine, Twilight Taupe and Misty Harbor. Twilight taupe, which is a combination of taupe, tan, beige and cream, is the most popular color.
