ABOUT GARAGE FLOORING

There are three main types of treatment for garage floors: Garage Floor Mats, Garage Floor Tiles, and Garage Floor Paint. Garage floor mats and tiles are made from copolymer plastic; their finish may be metallic-looking, or in a variety of bright colors. They are resistant to grease, oil, anti-freeze, and gasoline. Garage flooring mats and tiles can be laid directly on the garage floor, without adhesive. Garage flooring tiles lock together with a snap action, and can be provided with beveled edge pieces to provide a neat finish. Some designs are perforated to allow water to flow through easily.

Garage floor paint is usually a 1-part or 2-part epoxy treatment. Decorative color flakes can be added to give a granite or terrazzo look. Color flakes help to hide dirt and surface imperfections in the concrete; they can be used with water and oil-based coatings.
