ABOUT OVENS

Ovens may be built into cooking ranges, or may be fitted into wall mounted kitchen cabinets. They may be powered by electricity or gas. Single and double ovens are available. Double ovens may include a combination oven which can work as a conventional oven or as a microwave oven.

Convection, or fan, ovens have a fan which circulates the air within the oven during cooking. This eliminates hot spots, and produces an even temperature throughout the oven.

Some electric ovens feature a self-cleaning system. This is a timed cycle which heats the oven up to higher than normal temperatures, effectively burning off dirt and food deposits from the inside of the oven. Such ovens have an automatic safety lock which secures the door during the self-cleaning cycle.
