USA: Push Lawn Mowers: Push Lawn Mower Manufacturers
ABOUT PUSH LAWN MOWERS
Push lawn mowers have no motor, and are powered by pushing. As one supplier describes it, the only fuel required is a glass of milk and a banana. They are environmentally friendly, producing no CO2 emissions or other pollutants. They are also much quieter than a gasoline powered lawn mower.
Push lawn mowers have reel or cylinder cutters, with an action similar to that of a pair of scissors, rather than the rapidly rotating horizontal blade typically used in gasoline or electric powered lawn mowers.Push lawn mowers have few parts to go wrong, compared to a gasoline powered lawn mower. In most cases their cutting system provides no contact between the rotating and fixed blades, which means that they can be used for 8 to 10 years between sharpening of the blades.
Push lawn mowers can have collecting bags attached to the back, to collect grass clippings. They are also available with small re-chargeable batteries, to extend their working area. Please see our separate Product Guide on Electric Lawn Mowers.
