ABOUT WELL PUMPS

Well pumps are normally submersible, with both motor and pump being under the water level of the well. They need to be connected to the surface only by an electrical cable and the delivery pipe. By pushing the water up the pipe, these pumps are able to deal with deep wells, and are not limited by atmospheric pressure, as would be the case with a pump sucking water upward.

Submersible well pumps are usually constructed within cast iron casings, which are coated with epoxy for water proofing. They are provided with permanent lubrication systems. If necessary they can be lifted out of the well for maintenance.
